The Ageing and Disability Job Ready Program is a three-week training course, followed by hands-on industry experience through work placement with a support sector industry partner.

What will you learn?

The Ageing and Disability Job Ready Program teaches:

  • how to conduct manual tasks safely;
  • compliance with infection prevention and control procedures;
  • how to meet personal support needs; and
  • how to communicate and work in health or community services.

This course will be delivered 9am – 3.30pm over three weeks

Practical work experience

Work placement

As part of this program, you will undertake 70 hours of work placement.

Activ Pathways maintains strong industry connections and works with students to support access to practical placement opportunities aligned with the learning outcomes and assessment requirements of the program. Students may also choose to source their own work placement, which Activ Pathways will assess to ensure the required learning outcomes and program criteria are met. Activ Pathways provides guidance and support throughout the entire process.

Please note that all students wishing to access Activ Pathways supported placements are subject to minimum travel and availability requirements.

During your work placement, you will:

  • Gain real, hands on industry experience; and
  • Secure a “foot in the door” by working with an employer

Career opportunities after completing the course

By completing the Program, you may:

  • be offered a job with your work placement employer;
  • be offered an aged care or disability work traineeship;
  • use your skills to transition into an allied health occupation;
  • gain employer references;
  • be connected with other employ

Please note a minimum age requirement of 18 years is applicable.
