Our Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) not only gives you the qualifications to enter the growing disability sector but also equips graduates to work with NDIS service providers, emphasising the program’s relevance to the workforce supporting the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
Be better able to implement personalized care plans and provide care in community or residential settings. Our course combines practical, technical, and procedural knowledge to prepare you for the industry and understand the concepts and practices of person-centred support.
This course is the pre-requisite for CHC43121 Certificate IV in Disability Support.
You’ll gain valuable professional experience through a 120-hour work placement, allowing you to practice your theoretical learning.

Timetable: 33 remote-delivery classes from 4:30pm – 9pm including 4 extended sessions from 2pm – 9pm, and 8 onsite classes from 9am – 3:30pm
Training is conducted over 41 weeks/8 months (some weeks with 2 x sessions)
This program is designed for people currently working in the disability sector or who have prior experience.

This training is designed for people who are not currently employed or working less than 20hrs per week, who want to study to gain the skills and knowledge to work in the Care Sector.

What will you learn?
Upon completing a Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability), you will acquire a range of skills to help you provide care and support to people who live with a disability. These skills include person-centred support, effective communication, health and safety practices, personal care, mobility assistance, supporting independence, understanding ageing and disability needs, basic first aid, palliative care support, workplace collaboration, documentation and reporting, and cultural sensitivity.

Entry requirements
Students must be 17 years of age or older to enrol in CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability).
Course requirements
This qualification requires 120 hours of logged work placement (on the job experience to practice your skills).
Students must commit to complete a minimum of 5.5 hours work placement per week (in addition to classroom training). Pathways will assist students in finding work placements (day/s of placement will be subject to availability). Students are able to seek their own work placement if preferred, or complete their work placement in the context of a current role, subject to the workplace being deemed suitable.
You will use a computer/laptop in class for assessments. We can lend you a laptop if you do not have one to bring with you.
Study requirements
Students will need to demonstrate that they have the appropriate:
- Language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills
- Communication, documentation and research skills
- Physical capacity for manual handling (this is relevant to disability and aged care courses)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (which includes a police check) to commence work placement.
- Access to a laptop or desktop computer with basic digital literacy skills
Technology and workstation set-up
Students undertaking on-campus, blended and/or virtual training will require intermediate computer skills such as internet browsing, email, word processing, and presentation software. We understand the importance of a conducive study environment, so you will need a quiet space for study that has a stable internet connection.
You will also need:
- Web camera, microphone and speakers
- Smartphone
- Earbuds or headphones
- Zoom video conferencing software.
Please note: You must turn your camera and microphone on when using video conferencing.
